The MCPD would like to clarify a few things from the article in the Star paper last week.
First is we did not have 160 total drug investigations, we had a total of 160 felony case investigations (many of which were drug cases), up form 57 in 2012.
Second is we have never asked the community to help us raise funds for a K9 unit, then let that dog go with the K9 officer to another department to continue to be used. The last two dogs we had were retired out due to health issues. One officer left for another law enforcement career while the second officer left law enforcement for a job in the private sector. Both dogs were retired, not used by another agency.
